Hikers are never disappointed when they reach the Sturgeon River Gorge, climb to the top of Silver Mountain or Little Mountain, and make it to Mount Arvon, Michigan’s high point. The U.P.’s scenery includes beautiful inland lakes, old growth forests, rugged hills and the Lake Superior shoreline, all set amid some of the most remote, uninhabited country found. The North Country Trail stretches 192 miles through the western U.P., passing by waterfalls, lakes, rivers and streams.
